Rachel Cooper

SouthWest Edgecombe High School

Accomplishments: For the past two years, I have been the FFA chapter president (the first recorded female president). Last year (2019), I received a service to school award. I have been on the principals list since sixth grade. I have only missed one day of school since elementary. For the past two summers, a few FFA members and I cleaned up around Southwest Edgecombe High so it will be ready for the first day of school.

Future Plans: I will be going to the University of Mount Olive to study animal science in the fall.

Extracurriculars: I have been a member of the Southwest Edgecombe FFA Chapter for four years. For the past two years, I have been the chapter president (the first recorded female president). I am also a member of the National Honor Society. I have also volunteered for the Pedal Pull Against Drugs at the Pinetops Truck and Tractor Pull in May and the N.C. State Fair in October.

Favorite Quote: "And while Cinderella and her Prince did live happily ever after ... the point gentlemen ... is that they lived," Ever After: A Cinderella Story

Favorite Memory: I have so many favorite memories but these two stand out the most. When my brother and I were younger, during planting and harvesting seasons, we would go out and watch the tractors working in the fields near our house. We would ask our parents to take us out to watch the tractors and every time the tractors would go by us, we would wave at them. Most of the time, when we waved they would stop and let us ride with them. That is why I love agriculture and the FFA. Another favorite memory that I have is cheering on the kids at the Pedal Pull Against Drugs at the Pinetops Truck and Tractor Pull in May and the N.C. State Fair in October.

Advice To Future Generations: My advice for future generations is always enjoy being young while you can. You need to enjoy now and take advantage of every moment because you will never get these years back.
