A Rocky Mount native and former Appalachian State men’s tennis player was recently inducted into the Mountaineers’ athletic hall of fame.

Bob Allsbrook, who played at App State from 1979-83, has been inducted to the Mountaineers’ 2021 hall of fame class.

Allsbrook was a four-year letterman who played No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles. He and teammate Butch Dunn won the Southern Conference’s No. 3 doubles championship as a sophomore. As a junior, Allsbrook played to a 20-7 singles record while App State finished 22-6 that tied a program record for wins.

The Rocky Mount native went on to play professionally and earn ATP Tour singles and doubles rankings. After his playing career, Allsbrook coached Spartanburg Day School (S.C.) to three consecutive state titles. He was inducted into the South Carolina tennis hall of fame in 2013.
