The Rocky Mount High football team will play its Week 5 game one day earlier than originally scheduled.

The Gryphons will host Bunn at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday in what will be the Big East Conference opener for both teams.

RMH (2-2) enjoyed a get-right game last week when it defeated Goldsboro, 42-6. The road victory put a stop to a two-game losing streak and brought the team back to .500.

Junior quarterback Stephon Jones threw three touchdown passes to a trio of different receivers. Seallio Alphonse caught a 21-yard touchdown pass, Thomas Parrish’s touchdown reception was a 34-yarder, and Elijah Battle had a touchdown catch for 30 yards.

The Gryphons rushed for 159 yards, with Jaquan Horne scoring the lone rushing touchdown.

Bunn (2-1) last week earned a 20-16 win over Erwin Triton. The Wildcats have outscored their opponents 74-50, and are looking for back-to-back wins for the first time this season.
