Two N.C. Wesleyan football players are among the finalists for one of the top defensive awards in the nation.
Senior linebacker Antonio Johnson and junior safety Eddie Graham were nominated for the Cliff Harris Award, presented annually to the top small college defensive player of the year.
The award covers players in NCAA Division II, III, and NAIA universities.
Johnson, the USA South Conference defensive player of the year, finished the season with a Division III-high 76 solo tackles, and he led the USA South with 117 total tackles.
Graham had a team-high four interceptions to go with 11 pass breakups. Graham also had 52 total tackles, good for third on the Bishops.
NCWC finished 6-4 this season, and second in the USA South. The six wins were the most since a seven-win campaign in 2010.
