Lauryn Clark will be playing tennis close to home on Sunday.
The former Rocky Mount High standout and current Fayetteville State University player will compete in Rocky Mount on Sunday when the Broncos play Elizabeth City State University at 2 p.m. at N.C. Wesleyan.
Clark, a sophomore, is 1-2 in singles matches this season while playing in the No. 5 slot. As a freshman, Clark finished with a 7-9 singles record. In high school, Clark played under longtime Gryphons coach Barry Nethercutt and Wayne Holloman.
The Broncos won their first match of the season on Saturday, a 6-1 victory over Bowie State after a pair of 9-0 losses to start the season. Clark picked up two wins on Saturday, winning her No. 5 singles match, and her doubles match.
This will be the second time these Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association teams will meet at NCWC. Last season FSU won, 6-1.
