The USA South Conference announced on Wednesday its 2019 all-conference football awards and N.C. Wesleyan linebacker Antonio Johnson’s season of earning accolades continued.

Johnson was named the conference’s defensive player of the year. It was the second consecutive season that Johnson earned the award. He picked up four defensive player of the week honors this year.

The Bishops senior finished his career in second place among the program’s all-time leading tacklers with 269, and tied for first in Bishops history with a single season of five forced fumbles.

Johnson had a conference-best 117 total tackles. He added 12.5 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks. Johnson is also a three-time all-conference linebacker.

In all, the Bishops had seven players named the first team and placed two on the second team.
