Sharon Spain Fick
GREENSBORO - Sharon Spain Fick, 77, passed away Sunday, August 30, 2020 at Brookdale Lawndale Park Senior Living in Greensboro, NC.
A celebration of life will be held for Sharon at Trinity Lutheran Church in Rocky Mount, NC on Sunday, September 6, 2020 at 11:00 AM.
Sharon was born to Hollis and Esther (White) Spain on January 21, 1943 in Newton, Iowa. She graduated from Durant High School in 1961 and married Derek Fick in 1962. In October, 1978, Sharon moved to Rocky Mount, North Carolina where she worked as a travel agent for AAA for 11 years before becoming a medical transcriptionist for Boice Willis Clinic of Nashville, NC where she worked for Drs. Liverman and Bondy for more than 20 years before retiring.
She was a devoted member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Rocky Mount where she sang in the choir, served as a worship assistant, and held leadership positions on the church council. She also volunteered for the American Red Cross, Meals on Wheels, and the Down East Radio Reading Service, where she read to the blind.
She was predeceased by her parents, Hollis and Esther (White) Spain, her son, David Ryan Fick, and her nephew, Timothy James (TJ) Spain.
She is survived by her son, Daren R. Fick and his wife, Trish, and their children, Shelby Lynn (18) and Henry David (10) of Davenport, Iowa; her daughter, Lynn Fick-Cooper and her husband, John Cooper, and their children, Brian Jeffrey (19) and Matthew John (17) of Greensboro, NC; her brother, Timothy and his wife Beverly (VanBaalen) Spain and their daughter, Megan Spain of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
