Lacey "Jerrie" Journine Rowe

NASHVILLE - Lacey "Jerrie" Journine Rowe, age 91, died on Sunday, June 28, 2020. She was born November 29, 1928 in Burgaw, NC, Pender County. Jerrie was the oldest child and only daughter of the late Lacey Rankin and Louise Blanchard Applewhite in Currie, NC, Pender County. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved husband of 58 years, Andy Clayton Rowe, Sr.; a son, Andy Clayton Rowe, Jr.; brothers, Lacey Rankin Applewhite, Jr. and Carl Jackson Applewhite.

Jerrie was a member of Nashville Baptist Church. She volunteered many hours with the American Red Cross. Jerrie was a lover of music and at an early age found it to be a comfort in life. She also had a passion for reading. Jerrie loved her family and enjoyed activities with them as long as her health permitted. She also enjoyed working in her garden with her flowers. Jerrie was in awe of the ocean, and loved the beautiful sunsets and was always fascinated with the full moon. Jerrie was blessed with many friends and neighbors who became very special to her. She was known to be content with the simple things in life.

Jerrie leaves behind to cherish her memory, daughters, Josie Rowe Warren and husband, JC, of Raleigh and Gina Rowe Morris and husband, Tony, of Rocky Mount. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Kelly Jo Warren Porter and husband, Scott, of Raleigh, Allison Warren Osborne and husband, Eric, of Winterville, Lacey Kathryn Webb of Greenville, Jonathan Graham Rowe of Wilkesboro, and Matthew Hammond Rowe of Wilkesboro; great-grandchildren, Carson Porter, Jackson Porter, Emma Osborne, and Fischer Clayton Rowe; brothers, William James "Bo" Applewhite and wife, Jewel, of Asheboro and Wayne Blanchard Applewhite and wife Nancy, of Atkinson; daughter-in-law, Billie Hammond Rowe of Wilkesboro; and a very special dear friend and caregiver, Betty Hill.

A Service to Celebrate Jerrie's Life will be held on Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at 4:00 PM at Rocky Mount Memorial Park Chapel on the Hill Mausoleum with Rev. Kenny Byrd officiating. Entombment will follow the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Jerrie's memory to Nashville Baptist Church, 512 E. Washington Street, Nashville, NC 27856.
