More than 50 new cases of COVID-19 were reported over the weekend in Nash County and two more people died from the virus.

While 388 total cumulative cases of COVID-19 were reported as of Friday in the county, another 44 cases were reported Saturday, bringing the total to 432.

Four previous cases were transferred to other counties as more investigation was done into the residency of recent positive cases. Those transfers reduced the total number of cases to 428.

Twelve new cases were reported on Sunday, bringing the number of new cases to 52 since Friday and the total number of cumulative cases in Nash County to 440. Of that number, 239 people are considered recovered, 171 are isolated at home and 24 are hospitalized.

The number of COVID-related deaths in the county increased from four to six since Friday. These are the first deaths reported in Nash County in several weeks.

Edgecombe County has reported nine deaths so far.

One of the recent Nash County victims of COVID-19 died Saturday. That person was an elderly man with pre-existing health conditions who died after being hospitalized at Nash UNC Health Care. No details have been released concerning the other victim.

No new cases or deaths have been reported in Edgecombe County over the weekend since the Edgecombe County Health Department only sends out limited information concerning cases on weekdays.
