Crews have been at work cleaning and demolishing parts of what had been a cotton warehouse of the former Rocky Mount Mills along Falls Road immediately on the south side of the Tar River.
The site of the former Rocky Mount Mills now is the Rocky Mount Mills commercial and residential development. Rocky Mount Mills Development Director Evan Covington Chavez told the Telegram crews are taking down parts of the former warehouse that are not of historic significance.
Chavez said there are no plans for future development as of yet for that particular site, which is where raw cotton was delivered and stored.
Chavez said that once the demolition work is complete, Rocky Mount Mills will have additional parking available to customers of Books and Beans and the future relocated Prime Smokehouse: Barbecue & Beyond.
