The Nashville Town Council unanimously voted at its Tuesday night meeting not to renew its contract with the Carolinas Gateway Partnership as the town’s economic development partner and to join forces instead with Nash County Economic Development.

The council’s decision not to renew the $25,000 annual contract marks the second time in four years that a Nash County government entity has canceled its contract with the business and industry recruiter. In 2018, the Nash County Board of Commissioners elected to create an economic development department and forgo the services of Carolinas Gateway Partnership.
