Budget Retreat

Consultant Ted Cole of Davenport & Company, left, addresses the Nash County Board of Commissioners on Tuesday during the county’s budget retreat.

The first order of business on the first day of their budget retreat called for Nash County commissioners and the county’s management to take measure of the county’s credit rating, a strong rating that could improve through continued economic growth and subsequent reanalysis.

Ted Cole, a senior vice president with Davenport & Company, a financial services corporation with an office in Raleigh, talked to the gathering about what they could do to mitigate its only area of weakness in the factors that make up a bond rating — the income levels of its residents.
