Survey plane

A small Cessna plane will be conducting an airborne geophysical survey over a small area of northwestern Nash County this week.

The Nash County Sheriff’s Office is alerting Nash County residents about unusual air traffic that may be seen in the area this week.

A contracted company will be conducting an airborne geophysical survey over a small area of northwestern Nash County, northeast of Castalia and northwest of Red Oak, Chief Deputy Brandon Medina said in a recent press release.

This survey is scheduled to be flown next week using a small Cessna plane, Medina said. The Cessna plane will be flying back and forth in parallel lines.

The flight will be weather dependent so it is not clear what day this week the survey will begin. Once the survey starts, it is expected to last one to two days

“This information is being disseminated so local citizens and authorities can be aware of the airborne geophysical survey over Castalia and Red Oak,” Medina said in the release.
