Police are asking for the public’s help finding those responsible for an attempted robbery early last month at the CVS Pharmacy at the corner of Benvenue and Goldrock roads in the northwestern part of the city.

Officers responded about 10 a.m. on May 8 to the business and found out three suspects had entered, police Cpl. Ricky Jackson said in a news release. The three were wearing gloves, hoodies and masks, Jackson said.

One suspect brandished a firearm and demanded an employee get on the floor, while the other two suspects went looking for the cashier but could not locate that employee at the register, Jackson said.

The three suspects fled the area in an unknown make or model black car without having taken anything from the business, Jackson said.

Anyone with any information about what happened is asked to phone police at 252-972-1411 or Crime Stoppers at 252-977-1111.

Tips also can be texted to police via Text-A-Tip at 274637 by beginning messages with RMPOL and typing up to 155 characters about the information.

The Telegram in early October 2020 reported that CVS would be moving from the location at Beaver Pond Centre off Goldrock to the freestanding vacant former Rite Aid Pharmacy building at Benvenue and Goldrock.

The relocated CVS is much larger than the former one.
