A holdup occurred on Thursday evening at the Family Dollar in the 1200 block of Goldrock Road in the northern part of the city and law enforcement was seeking to apprehend the suspect.

Police radio traffic at roughly 7:30 p.m. began alerting there was a robbery in progress, with the business first identified as the Dollar General in the 600 block of Goldrock before subsequent radio traffic corrected to identify the business as the Family Dollar.

The suspect was described via radio traffic as a Black man, about 5-feet, 8-inches to 6-feet tall, heavyset in build and wearing a blue hoodie, an orange ski mask and black pants.

The suspect was last reported via radio traffic to have been heading an in unknown direction but possibly driving a tan or gold Toyota without hubcaps.

A reporter who went to the scene saw four police vehicles in the Family Dollar's parking lot.

As of this posting, no official information had yet been released by the police department.
