Police are trying to find a man who entered a convenience store in East Rocky Mount in the early morning hours of Sunday claiming he had a firearm and demanding money from the clerk.

Officers at approximately 5 a.m. responded to the Exxon EP Mart at the intersection of East Raleigh Boulevard, East Grand Avenue and North Fairview Road and spoke to the clerk, police spokesman Cpl. Ricky Jackson said in a news release.

The man fled in an unknown direction, Jackson said.
