Rocky Mount is the scene of another recent shooting resulting in an injury.
The incident occurred on Thursday evening in the 100 block of Moye Court, which is in the Bethlehem Woods apartment complex at the southwestern edge of the city.
Officers responded about 10 p.m. and upon arriving found a 16-year-old girl and a 36-year-old woman, police Cpl. Ricky Jackson said in a brief news release.
Emergency personnel transported the girl and the woman to Nash UNC Health Care with non-life-threatening wounds, Jackson said.
Nash County Emergency 911 Director Brent Fisher told the Telegram via email that emergency personnel received a call from an unknown woman reporting her daughter had been shot.
A recording of Nash County emergency radio traffic, obtained via broadcastify.com, said that a 16-year-old girl was possibly shot twice, in one of her arms and in the area of her legs.
Anyone with any additional information about the case is asked to phone police at 252-972-1411 or Twin County Crime Stoppers at 252-977-1111.
Tips also can be texted to police via Text-A-Tip at 274637 by beginning messages with RMPOL and typing up to 155 characters about the information.
The incident scene is just off Bethlehem Road between Halifax Road and Beechwood Drive. That part of Bethlehem is a connector route between the city and the Nashville area.
As for the other shooting with an injury, officers responded at 3:10 p.m. on Tuesday to the area of Airport Road and North Church Street in the northern part of the city, Jackson said previously. That gunfire was reported to have been into an occupied vehicle.
While a probe was being conducted, Nash UNC Health Care personnel told the police dispatcher a person had arrived in the emergency room with a gunshot wound, Jackson said.
Officers who went to Nash UNC spoke to Shawn Hargrove, who said he had driven himself to the hospital after the incident, but there was no information at that time about a suspect, Jackson said.
The Telegram heard police radio reports of that incident.
The dispatcher said shots were fired on Airport Road in the curve before Construction Drive, with a person or persons having continued on Airport in the direction of the Gardner’s Barbecue 301 flagship restaurant.
