Two men are behind bars in connection with the fatal attack of a man nearly a month and a half ago in the Hillsdale area on the northeast side of the city, authorities said.
Keimon Sharpe, 20, was arrested on Wednesday and Kyle Barnhill, 22, was arrested on Thursday, police Cpl. Clay Wilder said in a press release late Friday morning.
Barnhill and Sharpe are charged with one count of first-degree murder in the death of Kenneth Styles, 20, Wilder said.
A second man, Randal Harrison, 51, was injured in the attack, but Wilder said Harrison is recovering.
Additionally, Barnhill and Sharpe are charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, felony assault, discharging a weapon into an occupied dwelling and discharging a firearm within an enclosure to incite fear.
Barnhill and Sharpe are jailed without bond in the Edgecombe County Detention Center, Wilder said.
Officers responded at 10:42 p.m. on May 15 to the 1500 block of Charter Drive in response to a report of an aggravated assault and found out two people were injured.
Police in a press release after the attack said a 20-year-old man died at the scene and a 51-year-old man was transported to Nash UNC Health Care.
Police at the time withheld the names of the two men pending the notification of next of kin.
