A 31-year-old man is behind bars under a high bond after being arrested for the shooting of a man in broad daylight on Wednesday in the Meadowbrook area.
Eugene Jenkins, of the 700 block of Marlee Drive, is charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury to Rahson Sheridan, police Cpl. Clay Wilder said.
Jenkins was taken into custody without incident on Thursday and is being held under a $100,000 secured bond at the Edgecombe County Detention Center, Wilder said.
Jenkins is the lone suspect in the case, Wilder said.
The shooting occurred at 4:34 p.m. on Wednesday. Officers went to the intersection of Carlton and Lynne avenues and found Sheridan, 21.
Sheridan was taken to Nash UNC Health Care, but his wound was not life-threatening.
The Meadowbrook area is southwest of the interchange with U.S. 64 and East Raleigh Boulevard.
Jenkins is due on March 25 in Edgecombe County District Court, statewide judicial system records show.
