A 40-year-old woman was shot earlier this week in the city and a man was arrested, police said.

Police are withholding the name of the man, who is 35, pending the outcome of a probe.

Officers responded about 6:20 p.m. on Tuesday to the 200 block of North Pine Street and found that the woman sustained wounds to one of her wrists and one of her earlobes.

Police said the woman was transported to Nash UNC Health Care for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The 200 block of North Pine is in the Happy Hill area of the city.

According to broadcastify.com, Nash County emergency radio traffic at 6:26 p.m. said there was a person shot in the 200 block of North Vyne Street, which is close to North Pine Street. The radio traffic said Beal Street and West Thomas Street were the cross streets.

Subsequent radio traffic said police were advising there was a woman with a bullet wound to the neck.
