A more than five-year-old homicide case in the city recently ended when the accused conditionally pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in an agreement with the District Attorney’s Office, records at the Edgecombe County Courthouse in Tarboro said.

Daqwan Staton, 28, who has a prior record in the Twin Counties, was sentenced to a minimum of 15 years and 10 months to a maximum of 20 years in state prison for the fatal shooting of Thaddeus Williams, the records said.
