A woman is charged with feloniously committing larceny by an employee in connection with allegedly embezzling from a convenience store in the northwestern part of the city, authorities said and records show.

Jasmine Harris, 26, is accused of defrauding the Speedway in the 3500 block of Sunset Avenue of $166 between Dec. 27 and Dec. 29, Nash County court records said.

Store Manager Shanqunia Johnson at 8:42 a.m. on Dec. 29 told Rocky Mount police officers that two days before, the amount of money in the cash drawer was short by $66 and the amount of money in the safe was short by $100, a city spokesman said.

Video surveillance footage showed Harris had taken and placed the money in her pocket, the spokesman said.

Harris was arrested by police on Dec. 29, Nash County court records said.Bond was set at $1,000 secured and she made bail the same day.

She had listed an address in the 1300 block of Leggett Road.
