The police late last week were trying to apprehend a suspect reportedly armed with a knife in connection with a robbery of a convenience store in the northern part of the city.

Police this weekend were trying to find out who was responsible for shots fired during the nighttime hours in the 2100 block of Mobile Drive at the mobile home village in the Cross Creek area on the north side of the city.

Rocky Mount police are reminding residents to take care to protect their cars after two people recently were arrested for breaking into multiple vehicles over the weekend.


The police department in June responded to 29 reports of larcenies from motor vehicles — and the department is advising motorists to make sure that their vehicles are secure and that their valuable items are not in view.

The police are asking for the public’s help finding a knife-wielding man who early this week entered the Circle K convenience store at Sunset and Winstead avenues and got away with nearly $200 in cash.
