Edgecombe County manager to speak at ECC graduation

Evans has served as county manager since 2015. Prior to his current post, he served as the assistant county manager for five years. He has worked for Edgecombe County for more than 21 years.

He began his career in education, graduating from East Carolina University with a degree in history and a minor in education, and taught high school social studies for four years.

From there he transitioned into community development work for the Haliwa-Saponi Tribe in Hollister, and then to the City of Rocky Mount in the Community Development Division.

Evans serves on a number of boards, including the Carolinas Gateway Partnership Board of Directors and executive board, the Edgecombe County Tourism Development Authority, the Edgecombe County Juvenile Crime Prevention Council and the Rocky Mount Chamber of Commerce.

He is an ordained Baptist minister. He and his wife, Latonya Evans, have two daughters.
