For 43 years, members of the Phillips/Bricks Alumni Association have met during the Memorial Day weekend for fun and fellowship and to plan programs and projects that will perpetuate the ideals and keep alive the rich heritage of the two schools.

The organization supports the yearly programs and projects of Phillips Middle School via financial contributions and by the members volunteering their time and talent, and members being a voice to make the public aware of the positive aspects of the school.

An annual tradition of the organization is the awarding of scholarships to deserving high school seniors. The eight winners of the 2020-21 scholarships will each receive $2,000 for a total of $16,000.

The scholarship winners are:

  • Trinity Carter, who will attend Winston-Salem State University.
  • Skylar Cozart, who will attend Winston-Salem State University.
  • Jumaane Harrison, who will attend University of Maryland Eastern Shore.
  • Asheli Hunter, who will attend Prairie View A&M University.
  • Caleb T. Mercer, who will attend Fayetteville State University.
  • Tyler Postal, who will attend Hampton University.
  • Amia Sherrod, who will attend Winston-Salem State University.
