Teen singer, songwriter and producer Max LaMont recently debuted his long-awaited first solo single, “Another Love,” on all major streaming platforms.
LaMont, who previously released the album “Flight” as part of the pop duo Neverlanding, sees the release of this single as a “bold step” and the beginning of a new chapter in his life and adult musical journey.
“‘Another Love’ explores the pretty vulnerable topic of heartbreak, but the track is upbeat and fun,” said LaMont, who wrote and independently produced the song.
LaMont, 19, spent his childhood years in Baltimore before moving to North Carolina shortly before middle school. He is a classically-trained vocalist in both operatic and musical theatre performance and has been in a range of stage productions, including Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “Oklahoma,” Giacomo Puccini’s “La Boheme” and Leonard Bernstein’s “MASS.”
With talent, determination and skill that scholars and accomplished musicians have noted belie his age, LaMont said he strives to ensure that his work is “the best it can possibly be” while constantly fighting the urge to make sure everything is perfect.
“Nothing’s ever really perfect because I always challenge myself to keep growing. As an artist, you usually look back on what you’ve created and think of adding something or doing something differently, but the work is all about capturing the moment,” said LaMont, who began producing music at 9 years old. “That isn’t achieved when there’s nothing more to add but rather when there’s nothing to take away.”
“Another Love” is available on all streaming platforms and can be purchased on iTunes and Amazon Music.
