Nash UNC Health Care has announced Nash County native DeNaide Dickens as its new executive director of Human Resources, beginning Aug. 10.

A national search was conducted following the departure of Katie Davison, who was offered an opportunity to serve as chief human resources officer for Mon Health in Morgantown, W.V., in February.

“We held numerous interviews involving interdisciplinary teams of our staff and department leaders, with highly qualified candidates from across the state and region,” said L. Lee Isley, president and CEO of Nash UNC Health Care. “DeNaide’s leadership skills and ability to connect with employees made her the top candidate. Not only has she had prior experience in this type of role, but she is also a life-long resident of Nash County and really knows this community well. We are excited to move the organization forward with her leadership and passion for our staff, patients and community.”

Dickens has more than 15 years of experience in human resources and has held numerous leadership positions throughout her career. She most recently served as the interim human resources director for the City of Rocky Mount. Previous experience includes Wilson Medical Center, where she worked as a human resources business partner and also as the interim director of HR.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in organizational administration and psychology from N.C. Wesleyan College and is pursuing a master of business administration degree at Wesleyan College. She also currently teaches Human Resources Development part-time at Halifax Community College.

“I am excited to begin my role at Nash UNC Health Care,” Dickens said. “I have spent many years in this community and watched Nash UNC Health Care develop into the health institution that it is today. I am looking forward to working with the 1600 employees at Nash UNC and helping to advance the organization’s mission in our community.”
