Michael P. Davis, exalted ruler of The Elks Lodge #1038 at Birchwood in Nashville, recently donated and delivered $1,000 in student bookbags, composition books, pencil top erasers, dry erasers, markers, highlighters, sheet protectors, colored pencils, pencil holder pouches, glue sticks and new clothing for the students.
This donation was delivered to Mike Kennedy at Swift Creek Elementary school in Nash County. The Elks Lodge #1038 at Birchwood received a grant from the N.C. State Elks Association that had to be used for a helpful community project.
Davis said he is very proud of the Elks Lodge and is striving to guide the Elks in a positive direction of truly being involved in even more personal involvement in helping the respective local Nash County community. Davis also said that one of the slogans for the Elks is “Elks Care, Elks Share.”
Davis said the Elks have been in Nashville since May 1 and looking at every aspect in being an asset to the surrounding neighborhoods. He also said the Elks is a great fraternal order and was founded to promote and practice the four cardinal virtues of charity, justice, brotherly love and fidelity. The Elks mission is also to promote the welfare and enhance the happiness of its members, to quicken the spirit of American patriotism and cultivate good fellowship.
Davis said he would like to publicly say a big thank you to all of the dedicated Elk members for their conscientious hard work on this essentially needed and appreciated community project. He also said he was very happy The Elks Lodge at Birchwood could help students have these items to benefit them with their classroom studies.
