Princeville 16-year-old charged in Tarboro teen's shooting

A 16-year-old Princeville boy was arrested Wednesday in connection with a Monday night shooting.

Javonti Lamont White was charged with attempted first-degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill. He was jailed in Edgecombe County under a $250,000 secured bond.

Police said an 18-year-old Tarboro man was shot multiple times around 11:30 p.m. Monday while on Mutual Boulevard in Princeville. He reportedly told police the shooters were in a red van. Police said the investigation is ongoing and more arrests are anticipated.

The victim was taken to Edgecombe Vidant Hospital in Tarboro and transferred to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, where he was listed in fair condition.
