Jackson Willis of Nash Central won the Big East Conference singles championship Thursday, and Northern Nash’s doubles team of Tremel Davis and Matt Outlaw won their second straight conference doubles title at Barton College in Wilson.
After earning a first-round bye, Willis won the tournament in straight sets, never losing more than two games in any set before the championship.
Willis defeated Rocky Mount High’s Kevin Ramirez, 7-6(9), 6-2, for the title. Willis won his semifinals match, 6-1, 6-0, Thursday.
Davis and Outlaw successfully defended their title, besting the Wilson Fike tandem of Thomas Smith and Reid Harrison, 6-0, 6-2.
The duo also received a first-round bye and defeated Wilson Hunt’s top doubles team in the semifinals to reach the championship match.
All three champions will advance to next week’s NCHSAA 3-A Eastern Regional beginning May 2.
