Rivalry game still on for Saturday

The rivalry games between Northern Nash and Rocky Mount High on Saturday are on schedule.

Nash-Rocky Mount Schools’ Central Office made the official decision Friday evening to continue Saturday activities as planned.

School has not been in session since Monday. The threat of snow caused a closure Tuesday, then heavy snow Tuesday evening into Wednesday morning cancelled school and postponed games Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

The girls’ game between the Knights and Gryphons is scheduled to tip off at 4 p.m. with the boys’ game immediately following.

Rocky Mount’s home games against Wilson Fike have been moved to Feb. 6, while its home games against Nash Central have been moved to 4 p.m. on Feb. 8.

Faith Christian’s home games against conference opponent Henderson Kerr-Vance Academy have been cancelled and will not be rescheduled, the school said in an e-mail. To make up for the lost game, the first matchup on Jan. 7 in Henderson will count twice.

The Patriots’ boys’ won the original game, 60-59, while the Patriots’ girls’ lost.

Faith Christian’s games at Raleigh St. David’s, originally scheduled for Thursday, will be moved to Feb. 4.

The Patriots’ home games against Greenville Pope John Paul II have been moved to Feb. 10. The girls’ game is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. with the boys’ game immediately following.

Nash Central is in the process of finalizing its revised winter sports schedules, athletics director Michael Mosley said.

Southern Nash moved its home games against Wilson Hunt to Feb. 12. Southern Nash athletics director Robbie Kennedy said a makeup date has not been agreed upon for its games against Wilson Fike, which originally were supposed to be played Friday,

The Big East individual wrestling championship has been moved to 2 p.m. Saturday at Southern Nash.
