A pair of the Twin Counties finer football athletes will represent their schools and the state at the Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas, Dec. 15 in Spartanburg, S.C.
Northern Nash’s Dequavais Mann and Tarboro’s Tyquan Lewis, both seniors, were selected Wednesday to be a part of North Carolina’s 44-man roster.
Mann, who plays running back and defensive back for Northern Nash, has verbally committed to Duke, while Lewis, a defensive end and tight end, has committed to Ohio State.
Both players will enroll at their respective schools in the spring.
In past years, area athletes in the game have included Todd Gurley (2011, Tarboro), Aaron McFarland (2010, Southern Nash), Takoby Cofield (2009, Tarboro), Phillip Dobbins (2009, Southern Nash) and Whit Barnes (2008, Rocky Mount High).
