Every Tuesday night sporting event for area high schools has been postponed due to concerns about inclement weather.

Nash-Rocky Mount Public Schools cancelled all practices and postponed all games Tuesday because of concerns about transportation conditions.

With Winter Storm Janus moving through the East Coast on Tuesday, Nash-Rocky Mount’s Central Office ordered the suspension of all athletics-related activity, as did Faith Christian and Rocky Mount Prep.

The area is projected to receive freezing rain and about an inch of snow.

Nash Central’s basketball game at Northern Nash will be moved to Wednesday, with the girls’ game projected to tipoff at 6 p.m. and the boys’ game at 7:30 p.m.

The Bulldogs’ wrestling match also will be moved to Wednesday.

Southern Nash was supposed to play host to Wilson Hunt on Tuesday in a matchup of undefeated boys’ basketball teams, but that game that now will be played Jan. 29.

Southern Nash athletics director Robbie Kennedy said the Firebirds’ wrestling match scheduled for Wednesday at Rocky Mount High remains unchanged.

Faith Christian’s trip to Raleigh St. David’s also will be moved, Patriots athletics director Jimmy Hendricks said. The games will be made up at 6 and 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 30.

Rocky Mount Prep’s game at Riverside-Martin also was postponed.
