Rocky Mount High's Brian Goodwin is going to Hollywood.
Goodwin has been recently selected to play in the 2008 Aflac All-American High School Baseball Game on Aug. 9 at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles.

Goodwin, the Telegram's 2008 All-Area Offensive Player of the Year, was selected as one of 38 rising seniors from across the country to play in the contest.
Goodwin and the other 37 players will not fly into Tinseltown Aug. 5 with the name-recognition of neighboring Hollywood actors, but this event, which will be televised live at 3 p.m. on Fox Sports Net, will make this group of athletes even more well-known when each player returns home.
"It's a high honor for the kids," Baseball America Assistant Editor Nathan Rode said in a telephone interview. "It's basically for the fans to have an introduction to who's going to be in the (MLB) draft or in college in the upcoming years."
Goodwin is one of three players from the state on the East roster. He batted .473 (44-93) with 21 RBI and 45 runs scored to lead Rocky Mount to the NCHSAA 3-A state title in May.
He led the state in doubles (15), was second in the state in runs scored and was third in the state with 44 hits. He hit four triples, stole 21 (21-for-21) bases and was walked 27 times.
Goodwin has verbally committed to play for North Carolina.
"It's real cool knowing you will get to play on TV and having everyone see you," Goodwin said. "Getting a chance to playing in a stadium like that doesn't come along for everybody."
Rode, who specializes in high schools for Baseball America, said players will use wood bats in front of a number of Major League scouting directors.
Goodwin will not only be among some of the nation's better prospects, but he will also follow in the footsteps of esteemed alumni who have played in the game.
Fifty-two players who have played in the five previous Aflac games have been selected in the first round of the Major League Baseball Draft, including three No. 1 selections: Matt Bush (2004, San Diego), Justin Upton (2005, Arizona) and this year's top pick, Tim Beckham (Tampa).
Hall of Fame shortstop Ozzie Smith will serve as the game's honorary chairman for the second straight season and will be in attendance.
"Those are some top names," Goodwin said. "It makes it that much better. It's once in a lifetime."
