Rain continued to plague the Gainsville Regional on Sunday. In an elimination game between North Carolina and Long Beach State, rain began to pour with the score tied at four in the fourth inning, which delayed the game for three hours and 23 minutes.

Play resumed at 6 p.m., but the teams again were forced to flee 51 minutes later when more rain soaked the field.

The short window was enough time for Long Beach State to take the lead on Michael Hill’s solo home run to lead off the sixth.

The teams waited until nearly 9:30 before the game was postponed and scheduled to be completed at noon today. Play will resume with one out in the top of the seventh inning and Long Beach State leading, 5-4.

The winner will play College of Charleston 55 minutes after the first game concludes. If the loser’s bracket team wins the second game, a third will be played.
