N.C. Wesleyan never led in a road content at LaGrange, falling behind early and never recovering in a 94-86 loss on Sunday.
The Panthers had five players score in double digits, led by Sanders Dorough with 19 points and Kyron Anderson, who had 18.
Star forward Brandon Givens, the active leading scorer in Division III, tallied a game-high 36 points on 10-for-16 shooting in the losing effort for N.C. Wesleyan.
LaGrange (11-10, 4-8 USA South) started the game on a 13-2 run and took a 17-point lead into halftime.
The Panthers held a double-digit lead for the majority of the second half until the Bishops (15-9, 6-7) cut the lead to nine with 1:10 remaining before the Panthers clinched the game from the free throw line.
Josh Morrison scored 14 points for N.C. Wesleyan, the only other player besides Givens in double digits.
The Battling Bishops shot 4-for-26 from behind the arc against LaGrange but made 34 of their 42 attempts from the free throw line.
Givens alone was 15-for-17 from the charity stripe.
N.C. Wesleyan has dropped two of its past three games after winning five straight. The loss sent the Battling Bishops to fifth place in the USA South with one game remaining.
In its final regular season contest of the year, N.C. Wesleyan will play at Christopher Newport on Wednesday.
