NCWC men’s tennis to face Mary Washington in NCAA regional action

(NCWC) – The N.C. Wesleyan men’s tennis team face Mary Washington in Saturday’s NCAA regional action held at Emory University.

The Battling Bishops (14-0) are ranked No. 23 in the nation. They will be a No. 3 seed. Emory (16-3) is the top seed and Mary Washington (18-10) earned the second seed.

Saturday’s winners will play Sunday for the regional championship.

The NCAA Division III Men’s Tennis Committee selected 41 teams for participation in the Championships. The selection was based on won-lost record, strength of schedule, and eligibility and availability of student-athletes.

Adult summer league basketball

The City of Rocky Mount Recreation Services Division will hold an adult summer basketball league.

The cost is $300 per team the league registration will start May 11 to June 5. There will be a interest meeting at 6 p.m., May 20 at South Rocky Mount Community Center.

Games will be played on Monday and Wednesday nights at the Booker T. Washington Community Center. The start date for the league is June 15.

Youth summer league basketball

The City of Rocky Mount Recreation Services Division will hold a youth summer basketball league for age groups 12-14 and 15-17.

The cost is $250 per team. Individual cost is $25 per person. League registration runs May 11 to June 12.

All games will be played at South Rocky Mount Community Center at 6pm on Tuesday and Thursday nights.

Triangle sportscaster camp

Carolina Mudcats/N.C. State broadcaster Patrick Kinas will hold the inaugural Triangle sportscaster camp July 6-8 in Raleigh for boys and girls ages 13 and older.

The camp is designed to teach interested parties the fundamentals of broadcasting, including play-by-play, interviewing and game preparation.

Guest broadcasters will include Bob Harris (Duke), Mick Mixon (Carolina Panthers) and Neil Solondz (Durham Bulls) along with a number of Raleigh television sports anchors.

The cost of the camp is $350. Those who sign up with a friend will receive a $50 discount.
