ALL-AREA FIRST TEAM

TERRILL HILLIARD, SR., F, ROCKY MOUNT HIGH: At times, it seemed as though Hilliard’s 19.4 points per game average came with ease. No player in the area could take over a game like him.

DANTE BATTLE, SO., C, ROCKY MOUNT HIGH: As the season wore on, Battle was better and better. He saved his best for the 3-A title game when he was named Most Outstanding Player.

LAVON BRUTUS, SR., G, ROCKY MOUNT HIGH: Brutus was the glue that held the Gryphons together. He unselfishly played four different positions during the year and averaged 13.2 points per game.

DONTE SAMUELS, JR., F, ROCKY MOUNT PREP: When star forward Deshawn Freeman went down with a knee injury, Samuels helped carry the Jaguars deep into the state playoffs despite playing every game on the road. He averaged 17.4 points and 7.7 rebounds per game.

JOSH SESSOMS, SR., G, SOUTHERN NASH: Sessoms averaged 15.5 points per game and showed an ability to score from anywhere on the court as he surpassed the 1,000 career point mark this season.
