A woman wanted on merchandise counterfeiting charges in Rocky Mount was arrested Tuesday in Connecticut after her 5-year-old son called 911 to report that she had left him alone in a casino’s hotel room.
Connecticut state police arrested Xiao Xu Wu, 38, of New York after her son called 911 around 11:30 a.m. to say he’d been left alone at the Mohegan Sun in Montville, Conn., NBC Connecticut reported Tuesday.
After fingerprinting Wu and checking her record, police found an arrest warrant on counterfeiting charges from Rocky Mount and a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement detainer.
Wu was charged in August 2010 with possessing, storing and selling counterfeit versions of designer purses, shoes and accessories after Rocky Mount police and state and federal authorities seized more than $1 million worth of items ranging from Louis Vuitton purses and belts to Nike and Timberland shoes during a raid at the Stockyard Flea Market on South Church Street.
In Connecticut, Wu was charged with risk of injury to a minor and is being held at York Correctional Institution on $200,000 bond. The Connecticut Department of Children and Families took the boy into custody.
