A Rocky Mount teenager is listed in stable condition following a Wednesday afternoon shooting involving two other men.

Authorities said officers responded about 2:45 p.m. to an aggravated assault on the 1300 block of Weldon Avenue after police received a call about gunshots in the area. Police said officers couldn’t locate the victim when they arrived on the scene. Authorities later got a call that an 18-year-old man had been shot and admitted to Nash General Hospital.

The victim told police he was approached by two tall black men. Police said he described one of the suspects as light skinned with dreadlocks. The suspects fled in a black Toyota Camry in an unknown direction. The victim was later transferred to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville. Police said the case is under investigation.
