Authorities charged a Rocky Mount teenager Tuesday in connection with a Sunday morning shooting that wounded two men.

Montaque Barnes, 19, was charged with two felony counts each of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill, inflicting serious injury. Barnes was jailed in Nash County, but information on his bond was unavailable.

Rocky Mount police Cpl. Mike Lewis said just before 1 a.m. a group of people were in the parking lot of 301 Beach Bingo when shots were fired into the crowd. A 20-year-old man was struck once and treated and released from Nash General Hospital. A 16-year-old boy was shot multiple times and flown to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, where he is listed in stable condition.

“We do expect additional charges to be filed on additional subjects in this case,” Lewis said.
