Suspected pot dealers busted in restaurant parking lot

Authorities seized guns and marijuana during an investigation Thursday in the parking lot of Red Lobster.

Police said Nash County deputies and Rocky Mount police officers approached Clarence Edwards III and Matthew Curtis McGee as part of a drug investigation. According to police reports, Edwards refused to cooperate with police and was removed from the vehicle. Authorities used a K-9 unit to search the vehicle and found 18.6 grams of marijuana in separate packages. Police said they also seized digital scales, a box of ammunition and a .22-caliber rifle from the vehicle.

Edwards, 20, and McGee, 29, were charged with possession of marijuana with the intent to sell and deliver, conspiracy to sell marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia.

Edwards also was charged with maintaining a vehicle for a controlled substance and resist, obstruct or delay. Edwards was jailed in Nash County under a $11,000 secured bond.

McGee also was charged with possession of a firearm by a felon and jailed in Nash County under a $10,000 secured bond.
