Rocky Mount police used a K-9 to track a man suspected of breaking into a residence Thursday afternoon but were unsuccessful.
According to police reports, officers responded just before 1 p.m. to the 1800 block of Rosewood Avenue in reference to a breaking and entering in progress. The suspect reportedly attempted to enter through a window, but ran when police arrived leading officers on a foot pursuit.
Officers brought in a K-9 unit, which located a bag containing a brick, box cutter and a ball cap believed to be connected to the suspect. The K-9 followed the scent of the suspect to Courtland Avenue, but did not locate the suspect.
The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 5 feet, 9 inches tall with a medium build and short black hair. He was wearing a white T-shirt and dark blue jeans.
