A 24-year-old Rocky Mount man was arrested Sunday morning following a dispute at his girlfriend’s apartment.
Rocky Mount police Cpl. Mike Lewis said patrol officers responded to a domestic dispute shortly before 2 a.m. at an apartment on the 100 block of Photinia Court. Lewis said officers broke up an argument between a 47-year-old woman and Franklin Lee McClain and left. Officers were called back to the apartment a short time later, reportedly to a break-in to the apartment.
Police said shortly after officers left, McClain returned and forced his way into the apartment.
McClain ran from the apartment when police arrived the second time, but he was caught a short time later and taken into custody, when he reportedly tried to assault the arresting officers.
McClain was charged with breaking and entering, resisting a public officer and two counts of assault on a government official. He was jailed in Edgecombe County under a $4,000 secured bond.
