Police seek two crime of opportunity suspects

Rocky Mount police are searching for two men suspected of committing a crime of opportunity Thursday night at a local gas station.

According to police reports, the storage room door at Kangaroo Express on North Fairview Road was left unlocked and the suspects went inside and stole a box of Newport cigarette cartons valued at nearly $2,000. The men reportedly fled the scene in a white Chrysler Sebring.

One suspect is described as a 5-foot-8 heavyset black man wearing an orange T-shirt and blue jeans. The second suspect is described as a 6-foot black man wearing gray sweatpants, a white T-shirt and baseball hat. Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 977-1111 or crimestoppers@rockymountnc.gov.
