Police seek suspects in copper wiring theft from city

Rocky Mount police are searching for criminals suspected of stealing $1,500 of copper wiring from a city facility.

A public utilities employee reported the chain link fence around the electric system property on the 800 block of Greyson Road was cut sometime between Monday night and Tuesday morning and copper wire was stolen from the property. The city is constructing a new point of delivery station to receive power from Duke Energy as well as rebuilding substation 8. Those projects are scheduled to be completed next fall.
