Police are searching for a man suspected of stealing a 74-year-old taxi cab driver’s gun.

Authorities said the victim was a taxi driver who picked up a rider on the 400 block of Sled Court and as he arrived on the 2700 block of Buff Road, the rider overpowered the driver and grabbed a .380-caliber pistol from under the driver’s leg before fleeing the scene. The victim was not hurt.

The suspect is described as a 6-foot-5 black man, weighing 250 pounds with dreadlocks. Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 977-1111 or crimestoppers@rockymountnc.gov.
