Police seek suspect in teen's assault, robbery

Rocky Mount police are searching for a man suspected of assaulting and robbing a local teenager.

According to police reports, a 16-year-old boy was walking around 4 p.m. Tuesday on the 1600 block of Barnes Street when he was approached by a man. The man reportedly physically assaulted him, stole the victim’s cellphone then ran away toward Lucas Circle. The teen was not seriously injured.

The suspect is described as a tall, skinny black man with short dreadlocks and wearing a black tank top. Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 977-1111 or crimestoppers@rockymountnc.gov.
