Police seek suspect in hit and run

Rocky Mount police are looking for the driver of a vehicle that struck a pedestrian Saturday night then fled the scene.

Authorities said a woman called police around 9:30 p.m. Saturday after seeing a man lying in the roadway on the 300 block of North Raleigh St. Police responded to the scene where the 47-year-old victim was conscious but injured. The victim was taken to Nash General Hospital and transferred to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, where he is listed in serious condition.

Police said no description of the driver or the suspect’s vehicle was available. Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 977-1111 or crimestoppers@rockymountnc.gov.
