Authorities are working to determine if an attempted robbery and an armed robbery are related.

Staff called police around 10:30 p.m. Saturday after a masked man attempted to get into the L&L Food Store at 4101 Sunset Ave. Employees had locked the door for the night, so when the suspect attempted to open the door, he was unsuccessful and ran away.

Police responded shortly before 11 p.m. to a robbery at the L&L Food Store at 2558 Hunter Hill Road. According to police reports, a man entered the store, threatened two employees and a customer with a handgun then ran from the store with an undiscovered amount of money.

The gunman is described as a 5-foot-5 to 5-foot-7 black man between 17 and 26 years old with a light to medium build. The suspect reportedly was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, jeans and a blue bandana over his face.
